YTL Corporation Berhad recorded revenue of RM2,197 million (USD578 million) for the half-year ended 31 December 2003, representing an increase of 10.7% as compared to the Group's revenue of RM1,986 million (USD523 million) for the corresponding period ended 31 December 2002.

Profit before taxation increased by 38.2% to RM653 million (USD172 million) in the half-year under review from RM473 million (USD124 million) in the previous year corresponding period. Profit after taxation jumped 45.8% to RM514 million (USD135 million) from RM353 million (USD93 million).

The increase in the Groupís revenue and profit the six months ended 31 December 2003 is substantially attributable to better operating performance of its subsidiaries.

YTL Power International Berhad achieved revenue of RM1,646 million (USD433 million) for the six months ended 31 December 2003, a 5.1% increase over RM1,565 million (USD412 million) in the previous year corresponding period.

The profit before taxation increased by 8.9% to RM430 million (USD113 million) for the half-year ended 31 December 2003, as compared to RM395 million (USD104 million) in corresponding period ended 31 December 2002. YTL Power International Berhad derives 58% of its revenue and 37% of its profit before taxation from its regulated assets outside Malaysia.

YTL Cement Berhad recorded revenue of RM238.6 million (USD62.8 mil) for the six months ended 31 December 2003, representing an increase of 25.1% from RM190.7 million (USD50.2 mil) in the corresponding period ended 31 December 2002.

Profit before tax also increased to RM48.2 million (USD12.7 mil) from RM36.4 million (USD9.6 mil) in the corresponding period ended 31 December 2002, representing an increase of 32.4%.

The increases in revenue and profit before tax resulted from greater demand for the Groupís cement and related products during the period under review.

YTL Land & Development Berhad's revenue increased to RM43.7 million (USD11.5 mil) for the six months ended 31 December 2003, representing an increase of 9,896% from RM0.4 million (USD0.1 mil) in the corresponding financial period ended 31 December 2002. Profit before taxation increased by 264% to RM12.4 million (USD3.3 million) as compared to the preceding year corresponding period.

Both Sentul Raya Sdn Bhd, which is developing the Sentul Urban Regeneration Project, as well as the property development companies acquired during last financial year ended 30 June 2003, have jointly contributed to the increases in revenue and profit before taxation. The demand for YTL branded homes remains strong.

YTL e-Solutions Berhadís revenue rose to RM16.3 million (USD4.3 mil) for the six months ended 31 December 2003, representing an increase of 35.7% from RM12.0 million (USD3.2 mil) in the half-year ended 31 December 2002. Meanwhile, profit before tax increased by 10.3% to RM7.3 million (USD1.9 mil) from RM6.6 million (USD1.8 mil) for period ended 31 December 2002.

The increases are due mainly to higher demand for YTL e-Solutions Berhadís content management services and post-paid and pre-paid Alternative Voice Service Provider (AVSP) services provided by its subsidiary, Extiva Communications Sdn Bhd. The higher turnover was also partly due to contributions from wholly owned YTL Info Screen Sdn Bhd which is involved in creating, providing and advertising content, media, web media and up to date information via electronic media.
